Luxury fashion taking over China

22 Dec

Prada recently announced that it will be showcasing their Spring 2011 fashion show in Beijing on January 22nd. “Both Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada are expected to attend, and Prada plans on creating a series of new items specifically for the event.”

With fashion capitals like New York, London and Dubai taking over the world by a storm, China is no longer hiding behind the fashion scene.

It ultra high growth rate in the fashion and luxury industry has not gone unseen by our mentors like Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg. We heard Wintour taking a trip to china recently in order to make arrangement for China to have its own Vogue Fashion Fund.

Moreover,  the statement "I’d like to sell every Chinese a T-shirt” has been making rounds on various news channel since the time Diane von Furstenberg said it.

And now we see Prada making its mark, who has already seen a 51 percent surge in its revenue from the region in the first nine months of 2010.

With all things fake from China, its funny how these luxury brands are in the rat race to put their first foot forward. At the same time, we see their very own brands, selling at mere $50 in the same market.

So would you go to China for luxury or cheap shopping?

Isn’t it a weird world?. What goes around comes around in a funny way.
